How to repair the nonskid tape.

Although you can replace all of the tape on the ramp in one shot, you won't usually want to do so. Most of the time, you will only want to repair a small section of tape on the ramp. Here's how to do it. You will need new tape, which comes in sheets, and a box cutter. You can get both of these items either online or offline from many stores, including the Home Depot.
Damaged spot on tape. Damaged spot on tape.
Cut out damaged area. Cut around the damaged area with a box cutter. Ideally you want to use a glass cup as a guide so that you cut out and replace a circular section of tape. If you don't have a glass cup or other circular shaped guide that you can see through, you can use a ruler for your guide, and cut out and replace a rectangular section of tape.
Remove old tape. Peel off the old tape.
Cutout section now clean. Old tape has been removed from around the damaged area.
Cut new tape to size. Cut your replacement tape section from the new tape sheet. Use the same guide (glass cup, ruler, etc.) that you used to cut around the repair spot on the ramp.
Remove backing. Peel off the paper backing from your newly cut tape section.
Apply new tape. Put on your new tape section. Then, press down firmly on all parts of it from the center outward to securely glue it to the aluminum and to work out any air bubbles that may be trapped underneath the tape. Trim off the edges if needed.
